Mood Ring first opened in Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2017 and now the stars align for us to expand to Chinatown, Los Angeles. Located in the historic Hong Kong Low building once home to the restaurant and punk venue Hong Kong Café in the 1970s and 80s, we’re making way for the next season of revelers and continuing the legacy of Chinese American-owned businesses. Position Summary:
The Barback is responsible for providing support in all areas of service operations. An innate sense of urgency, ability to anticipate needs, and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude is required. This position works closely with the management and entire bar service team.

Essential Job Functions:

• Handles all preparations required for bar service, including garnishes, juices, syrups; organizing, restocking, and moving liquor inventory; etc.

• Keeps back-of-house areas, patron service areas, and restrooms clean.

• Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.

• Bus glassware, often while asserting your way through large crowds in a loud nightclub environment.

• Assists in providing friendly and efficient customer service, working in tandem with bartenders to build clientele; escalates inquiries to bartenders or management when necessary.

• Works in collaboration with the entire bar and security team to ensure the smooth operation of our events. Monitors customer interactions in accordance with our safety protocols and communicates any potential concerns with the team.

• Completes barback closing checklist independently, efficiently, and with care to detail.

• Other duties related to supporting varying areas of service operations, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Previous bar or food service experience, preferred.

• Weekly schedule of Friday and Saturday nights with additional shifts available from time to time; hours for shifts will range between 6:30 pm-2:30 am.

• Work approximately 2 days per week, with coverage shifts available as needed.

• Team player; takes initiative and not afraid to get your hands dirty.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required.

• California Food Handler Card required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.

• Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive motions.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, loud and crowded night club/venue environment.

Pay Rate:
Base hourly rate of $18.42 plus tips, W-2 position
