Mood Ring first opened in Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2017 and now the stars align for us to expand to Chinatown, Los Angeles. Located in the historic Hong Kong Low building once home to the restaurant and punk venue Hong Kong Café in the 1970s and 80s, we’re making way for the next season of revelers. Come kiss and dance until the night closes in.
Position Summary:
The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. This role requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging bar experience while maintaining efficiency and compliance with all regulations.
Essential Job Functions:Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional, and engaging service.
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, including cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits.
Provide recommendations and upsell beverages to enhance the guest experience.
Ensure bar setup is fully stocked, organized, and ready for service.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, tools, and equipment at all times.
Monitor guest consumption and adhere to responsible alcohol service standards.
Process transactions accurately using POS systems and follow all cash handling procedures.
Perform opening and closing duties, including inventory checks, restocking, and cleaning.
Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Collaborate with team members and provide lateral service to support overall operations.
Follow direction from supervisors and maintain positive working relationships.
Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays; hours for shifts will generally range between 5:00 PM-2:30 AM.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge of state and local alcohol laws.
Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine, and beer.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; takes initiative and not afraid to get your hands dirty.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
Frequent reaching, bending, and repetitive motions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, loud and crowded night club/venue environment.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year bartending with classic cocktail experience.
Valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required.
California Food Handler Card required.
Pay Rate:
Base hourly rate of $18.42 plus tips, W-2 position
